Top Dogs

Okay so Yahoo decided to do some research and tell the world the top dogs across the state. The fact that they can do that is pretty cool. The results aren't that shocking in our opinion because, well let's face AKC pretty much can give you a list of the most popular dogs for like the past ten years. Spoiler Alert!! Labrador Retrievers are number one most of the time! I know it shocked us too, no offense to you loving labs out there but, seriously you can share the lime light every once in awhile.  Seriously labs 42 states is a little much.

It should be no shock to anyone that Alaska's number one dogs were the Alaskan Malmutes/Siberian Huskies. Alaskan Malmutes are a duh, Alaska is in their name and all. We were saddened to hear that our other Northern Breeds weren't high up on their list. Sorry to all the Samoyeds, Great Pyrenees, Saint Bernards and Newfoundlands out there, maybe next year you guys will get your chance to shine. That is if the labs are willing to share the lime light for once. We're watching you labs all of you.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that other popular breeds made the list: German Shepherds, Border Collies, Bulldogs, Golden Retrievers American Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas. All of the dogs have had a famous dog in the acting business as a lead character which of course makes them more important in the humans eyes. I mean Rin Tin Tin, Marley, Shadow and Chance. Oh and let's not forget Air Bud and all his little "buddies" seriously there are that many movies now. We are glad to see the American Pit Bulls on the list because, let's face it they get a bad rap when they don't deserve it. We love Pit Bulls here, they are our best friends.

Breeds that we are kinda shocked that we didn't see mentioned are: Parson Jack Russel Terriers, Carin Terriers, Maltese, Shih Tzus and Poodles. They are dogs that have made it big on the big screen and people know them. Yet they aren't on listed or at least not with a name drop.

We weren't surprised to see the hybrid/crosses like the Goldendoodle and Labradoodle. They are becoming family favorites and well known.

Maybe next time the Chinese Shar Pei, Great Pyrenees and other I guess we will call them rarer breeds will make the list making them less rare and a family favorite.
